Day 162 - Don't use Baby Powder
Today's First Time Parenting Tip - Don't use baby powder if you're using disposable diapers
Nowadays, disposable diapers do a fantastic job of taking the moisture away from the baby and locking it inside the diaper. That's what baby powder does too, but if you use baby powder with disposable diapers, it actually keeps more moisture closer to your baby's skin, which works contradictory to its purpose.
If you're using cloth or some diaper that doesn't lock away moisture, keep using the baby powder or butt paste to prevent diaper rash and keep your baby comfortable.

Hi there, I just found your site today and I love it so far!
I also wanted to say that I use cloth diapers, and wanted to give you a little note:
I use cloth diapers (fuzzibunz, to be specific, and I LOVE THEM!)
I've never found it necessary to use baby powder.
And some advice for cloth-diapering parents: try not to use barrier creams at all, because they also create a moisture barrier on the cloth diapers, making them less absorbent! If you need diaper rash ointment, use what the manufacturer recommends (I use Boudreaux's Butt Paste).

I've never heard of those kind of cloth diapers...I'll have to check them out. Great advice too.
